The issue of separated pilgrims, particularly among married couples, children and parents, and elderly or disabled pilgrims with their assistants, has been a significant point of attention. Initial reports indicated that some family units were being placed in different accommodations in Makkah, leading to distress and inconvenience for those affected during their spiritual journey.
Saudi officials, in collaboration with various Hajj service providers, have addressed these concerns directly. They acknowledged that some separations occurred due to sharia-based service policies or specific arrangements with service provider companies, which were initially considered unavoidable in the initial phase of pilgrim placement in Makkah.
However, recognizing the humanitarian implications, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has taken decisive action. They have reached an agreement with the service providers to facilitate the reunification of separated family members within the same hotel. This will be done without questioning differences in sharia-based assignments and will involve adjusting their Nusuk cards accordingly.
Heads of pilgrim groups have been instructed to collect data on all affected pilgrims, including names and their respective sharia identities, to expedite the reunification process. This proactive measure aims to resolve separation issues swiftly, ideally within a maximum of 24 hours after pilgrims arrive in Makkah.
